Snowbird

This is our favourite resort offering 3,240 vertical feet of amazing terrain and averages more than 500".  Snowbird also boasts Utah’s longest ski season, as the the land is privately owned and they stay open as long as the snow lasts.  That often means you can still ski there in June!

Located six miles up Little Cottonwood Canyon, Snowbird is also the closest resort to the house.  It is about a 15 minute drive. Those who love it steep and deep need look no further.  The skiing here is truly awesome!

Alta Ski Resort

Alta

Alta became a ski area in 1938 and was the first resort in Utah to install a lift.  Alta is just for skiers and one of only three areas in the United States not to allow snowboarding. It has a purist’s feel to the resort with great scenery and diverse terrain.

Located eight miles up Little Cottonwood Canyon, Alta is the second closest resort to the Utah Ski House. It also has an uncanny quality of snow also receiving the higest average snowfall out of all the Utah resorts.

Brighton Ski Resort

Brighton

Brighton is located directly in the path of winter storms and it is also at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon so it gets the very best of the “greatest snow on earth,” and lots of it.

Park City Ski Resort

Canyons Village

Vail Resorts who own Canyons purchased neighboring Park City Mountain Resort and merged it with Canyons via an interconnect gondola, re-branding the whole area as Park City. The former Canyons area was then renamed as Canyons Village at Park City.

Canyons covers nine peaks with maximum elevation of 9,990 ft. There are five bowls, six natural halfpipes, and three terrain parks. Side mountain and backcountry skiing can be accessed through gates found on some of the peaks.

Deer Valley

Just a mile from Park City, Deer Valley is overtly upmarket.  It is famed for the care and attention lavished on the slopes and the guests, but it is unpretentious although Snowboarding is banned.  The views of the reservoir and on towards the Uinta mountains on the run down to the Jordanelle gondola are spectacular.

The resort, known for its upscale amenities, is consistently ranked among the top ski resorts in North America.  The resort was ranked first by SKI magazine for five consecutive years between 2007 and 2011 and has been second many times.

Canyons Ski Resort
Park City Ski Resort

Park City

Park City, Utah could certainly stake a rightful claim of being the “perfect mountain town.” Combining its silver mining town heritage, a progressive vibe and a deep appreciation for the outdoors, Park City strikes a balance between luxury and comfort.

When Vail linked it with the adjacent Canyons Resort they created America's Largest Single Ski And Snowboard Resort. The U.S. Ski and Snowboard team is also headquartered in Park City.

Powder Mountain Ski Resort

Snowbasin

Snowbasin is located in Huntsville, about 35 miles North of Salt Lake City.  It is one of the most professionally run ski resorts in the world and is described by locals as ‘the last best mountain in the USA’. The quality of staff and services is second to none.

Even though it’s a large ski resort with great snow and terrain and first class facilities, it is still somewhat of an unknown snow destination. It doesn’t get the same crowds as Park City or Snowbird. This of course is of great benefit to powderhounds who are happy not to share the powder with the unwashed masses!

Nordic Valley

Nordic Valley Ski Resort in Utah was formerly called Wolf Mountain, Wolf Creek, and now Nordic Valley. Terrain is available for novices to advanced skiers, and there is a terrain park. The resort doesn’t have steeps and the trees are generally too tight for most, but it's a fun place.

Whilst it is significantly smaller than the nearby Powder Mountain and Snowbasin, Noridc Valley is in Utah so it gets powder! Couple that with some great fun terrain, super friendly staff, relaxed family atmosphere then you have a great place to ski.

Snowbasin Ski Resort
Powder Mountain Ski Resort

Powder Mountain

Powder Mountain is where you’ll find your own secret powder stash. It’s a little known resort, and many visitors to Utah don’t even realise that Powder Mountain exists. Even on the busiest day, you may only find one skier per two acres of terrain.

The skiable terrain is big where 3,000 acres is a traditional lift served resort, but the remaining 5,000 acres is nirvana for powder hounds. Powder Mountain remains relatively undiscovered with its lack of advertising and infrastructure, but this is a plus for real powderhounds who don’t need frills and just want great skiing.

Beaver Mountain

Beaver Mountain is in northern Utah located near the summit of Logan Canyon west of Bear Lake and near the border with Idaho. While smaller and less developed than a number of Utah ski resorts, Beaver Mountain is very popular with local residents.

The slopes of the mountain are predominantly east-facing, and it receives somewhat less snowfall than those resorts facing west. The ski area is entirely dependent upon the (usually) ample natural snowfall, and therefore often opens several weeks later than most other resorts in Utah

Eagle Point

Born as Mount Holly in 1972 and run as Elk Meadows until 2002, Eagle Point Ski Resort, located in southern Utah, has resurrected itself as a leaner and meaner operation. The ski area is located about 20 minutes from the town of Beaver.

The resort is home to long groomed intermediate and beginner terrain mixed with excellent advanced trails. The scenery is spectacular and the area is known for its relaxed atmosphere and for some of the best terrain options in Southern Utah.
